Welcome back to another exciting year at Sunnymeadows!

 

Every year we look forward to the start of school and all the prospects for new beginnings. This year we have a few staff changes. Mr. Mendoza and Mrs. Villa have moved to 5th grade. We have a new kindergarten teacher: Mrs. Favero, she comes to us from Cloverdale Elementary. Our psychologist this year is Mr. John Liderbach-Vega. He has been in the district for quite a few years but he is new to Sunnymeadows. Finally we have a new EL Specialist. Mrs. Susan Holtan will be serving Sunnymeadows on Mondays and going to 4 other schools each week as well.

 

New years bring new challenges and this year our primary grades will be serving 30 students in each room instead of 22. Its a challenge but I know they are up to it! We have also implemented flex days here for the first time. Every Wednesday, students will be dismissed at 1:00 allowing teachers and support staff a weekly opportunity to meet, and work together to provide the highest level of instruction for each and every student. During these meetings teachers look at each students progress toward meeting grade level standards and how they can support students who are struggling. This opportunity to work together has made the instruction in each classroom more powerful and effective.

 

We are pleased to see the work being done by our new PTA board. Many great things are happening here. Our ELAC group is meeting and learning new strategies to help their children and Mrs. Peterson our school counselor will be providing the "Price Parenting" classes again. When we work together as a team to support our children, eveyone wins!
